The Peeth conducted a survey in the areas around Kamvan and found out that eye diseases (Cataract in particular) were very prevalent among the people. There were no standard hospitals in this area where these diseases could be treated. The poverty of the people prevented them from going to places like Delhi or Agra.Realising the grim situation, the Peeth started conducting free eye-camps in Kamvan.Since 1987 the Peeth is conducting two eye-camps in an year with the help and personal supervision of noted Opthalmologist of Ahmedabad,Dr.Rameshbhai Desai and Dr.Prafulla Patel.Till today thousands of patients have been treated in these camps. In 1997 the Govt. Of India bestowed the Peeth with "The Best Eye-Camp" award. The dexterity of the above mentioned doctors and other foreign doctors has helped us in achieving 100% success rate in cataract operations. Now,under the blessings of the present Acharya H.H. Shri Vallabhlalji Maharajshri,a new hospital building is being constructed in Kamvan.Various modern gadgets of Opthalmology are being installed in this hospital. The aim of the Peeth is to make Kamvan a "Cataract-free zone".The aim of such a zone, the first if it's kind in India will be achieved around 2001 A.D.
